The learning centers were half of what made Night of the Notables what it was. I knew this, and I wanted to make my learning center pretty special. I thought mine was going to be good and then I look around and realized everyone’s was so so so so good. Some people had the whole
set-up like chairs and rugs and everything! *cries on the inside*. Nonetheless, I was pretty proud of my learning centre.
I knew from the very start that I wanted to have her dressing table as a part of my learning centre. Since I did my speech mainly focused on her invention, I really wanted her acting side to be more prominent and shine through. I added things on the table that would make it more Hedy Lamarr-like and show her acting side. For example, I put a mirror, a dress, a necklace stand thing, and a red lipstick (which I also used in another part of my project). I also put a large diamond ring on the table to represent all of the marriages and husbands she had ahaha. I also put trivia on the table so that if kids (or keen adults) wanted to play, they could take a card right off there.
I wanted to have information about her so that if I was gone for some reason they would still be able to learn about her. I tried to be creative and not have a trifold but what I had (as you can see) was pretty much the same thing. I tried to make it more dazzling and prominent by adding fairy lights around it. It was a good thing I did this because the corner I had was so dark! Below the poster board paper thing I had my tablet playing “the strange woman” from 1946. This was a movie where Hedy had the main role and I thought it would be a good idea for people to see her acting. Lastly I had a Glass fame with “Hedy’s phone number” because I love that story. If you haven’t heard the story, I put it in my speech which can be found in my document of learning.
That’s pretty much all that there was. I don’t want to copy and paste all the information I had on my poster board because this post would be a lot longer. I hope you liked it!
P.S. Today I just got an email from Stephen Michael Shearer. He is an author and he had written a biography about Hedy Lamarr. Anyway, I will post the answers to the questions when they reply.
